Rush U. Plans $473M Outpatient Center

Rush University Medical Center has submitted plans to construct an 11-story, 530,000-square-foot outpatient care center on Chicago’s Near West Side. The estimated cost of the project is $473 million.

The project will include an enclosed, fourth-floor walkway connecting the two buildings when it is completed. Rush will finance the construction through debt financing and revenue from operations.

Rush has grown its outpatient care locations over the past several years. It opened Rush River North two years ago, and Rush Specialty Care Oak Park last fall.

“We are committed to continue expanding our reach into more communities with the opening of Rush South Loop, 1411 S. Michigan Ave., in October 2018, and the Rush Oak Brook Outpatient Center in 2019,” said RUMC’s Anthony Perry.

With project approval, construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2019 with a supply tunnel under Ashland Avenue. Estimated completion of the building is 2022.
