Saks Fifth Avenue has opened the renovated 53,000-square-foot main floor at its 600,000-square-foot flagship store, bringing the $250-million project a step closer to completion.
As part of the revamp, the Midtown landmark’s main floor is now connected to the “beauty floor” on level two via an OMA/Rem Koolhaas-designed escalator. The main floor includes an expanded selection of handbags, which now number more than 50 brands.
“The opening of our reimagined main floor is another milestone in our Grand Renovation that offers our customers a modern and expansive experience the moment they walk through the doors,” said Marc Metrick, president, Saks Fifth Avenue. “This, combined with the opening of L’Avenue at Saks, our new in-store dining experience, epitomizes the New Luxury, centered on individuality, personalization and ease.”
Opening later this year will be the Vault, a high-end jewelry space to be located on the store’s lower level.
