San Antonio Targeting High-Growth Areas as Part of Annexation Plan

The city of San Antonio is looking to annex more than 1,220 acres of incorporated territory, in attempts to bring high-growth areas into the metro fold. The targeted land is along the U.S. Highway 281 North commercial corridor, south of Marshall Road and Northwind Boulevard in Bear County, north to Ancestral Trail in Comal County.

The land includes approximately 4,000 feet of highway frontage zoned for commercial and agricultural uses. About 66% of the acreage also falls within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. According to the city, annexing the land would protect the aquifer zone, while ensuring quality developments under San Diego’s zoning and planning codes.
