San Diego Ranks No. 16 on CBRE’s “Tech Talent Scorecard”

San Diego ranks 16th on CBRE Group, Inc.’s “Tech Talent Scorecard.” The annual report, “Scoring Tech Talent,” ranks 50 U.S. and Canadian markets, according to their ability to attract and grow tech talent.

San Diego’s strong ranking was aided by a 47.2% growth in tech talent over the past five years, as well as a 13.9% growth in the Millennial segment from 2009 to 2014.

CBRE’s Tech and Media Practice leader in San Diego Andrew Ewald says, “The tech ecosystem in San Diego is strong and we are seeing a migration of tech firms from the Bay Area to San Diego.”

Factors driving tech growth into San Diego are the higher costs of living and the competitive recruitment process in other markets, such as the Bay Area, thus, prompting tech companies to focus on San Diego.
