Three San Diego neighborhoods made Cushman & Wakefield’s 2016 Top 100 Cool Streets of America list. The recently released report says the fickle mistress of cool has descended on Hillcrest, East Village and North Park.
‘Main streets” and ‘high-streets’ – typical success predictors – are giving way to a new influencer. C&W’s retail researchers advise “ignore cool at your own peril.”
Cool urban, experiential environments are at peak importance to consumers – especially Millennials. Yet, this moving, constantly evolving target has never been as elusive as it is now.
In the case of San Diego’s trio of Cool Streets, Hillcrest and East Village are ranked as Up & Coming areas, while North Park has hit its Prime Hipness zone. C&W says they are now poised to become incubators for the hottest new retail concepts of tomorrow.
