Research by Ladders Inc. shows that San Francisco is at the top of a list of 15 American cities that currently have the largest supply of open jobs paying $100,000 or more. The career website that caters to high-paying job searches used data from ADP and Moody’s Analytics to identify the nation’s hottest markets by pay.
The research found private payrolls nationwide increased by 275,000 in April. Drilling further down into the numbers at mid to senior level roles, researchers discovered the San Francisco area accounts for 26,924 of the openings available for the month of May. That was nearly 5,000 more than New York, which came in second.
There are characteristics unique to various metros, though. Washington, D.C., the number three city with high-paying jobs, recorded a wealth of general technology jobs, yet lacks in the areas of cybersecurity and business intelligence skills. Los Angeles currently is experiencing demand for roles in finance, sales and healthcare, while Denver is one of the top cities hiring for tech workers, primarily in STEM.
