SC Johnson has leased a new 400,000-square-foot building in the Pullman Crossings industrial park for its Methods cleaning products brand, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. Pullman Crossings was co-developed by Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives and Ryan Companies.
The lease represents another big step in the revival of the South Side’s Pullman neighborhood, following Amazon’s recent decision to open a 150,000-square-foot fulfillment center at Pullman Crossings.
Since 2008, CNI has been spearheading a major redevelopment of a former Ryerson steel mill along the Bishop Ford Freeway, a project that includes a Walmart-anchored shopping center and a Whole Foods distribution hub.
Including the Amazon and SC Johnson buildings, the nonprofit has developed all but 15 acres of the 180-acre site, CNI president Doug Doig told Crain’s. The deal underscores the economic development success story in Pullman as well as the strength of the Chicago industrial market, Crain’s reported.
