A little more than a year after opening at 3535 N. Mesa, El Paso’s newest Krispy Kreme shut its doors. The news comes from Randy Willard of Austin-based Glazing Saddles, which has the Krispy Kreme franchise rights in El Paso. Dos Rios Partners manages Glazing Saddles.
Willard told the El Paso Times that sales were hurt due to Interstate 10 construction which, in turn, created gridlock on Mesa. He indicated that the newest store also reduced sales at another Krispy Kreme, this one at 7640 N. Mesa, near Interstate 10.
The company will use equipment from the closed store for a new San Antonio location. Glazing Saddles also wants to open another El Paso Krispy Kreme, but the location hasn’t been selected.
