Member of the SIOR Chicago Chapter have donated to the Ada S. McKinley College-Bound Trunk Scholarship program in record numbers this year, making possible 30 Trunk Scholarships. The scholarships are provided to students typically from the West and South sides of Chicago; each scholarship winner is selected based on an essay contest and a demonstration of financial need.
2020 marks the tenth year of the Chapter’s support of this charitable initiative. Each trunk is valued at $500, for a total donation of $15,000 from SIOR Chicago.
New laptops, earbuds and backpacks are in the trunks, along with more traditional school and dorm room supplies. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trunks were modified this year to prepare first-year college students for remote learning and include access to online tutoring.
