“Smart” Walmart Readies for Grand Opening

A new Walmart store is scheduled to open on Feb. 15 at 25800 Kuykendahl Rd. in Tomball, TX,  to the northwest of Houston. The store will have a Chobani Café, representing the first location of such a café outside of New York. It will also have the Greater Houston area’s first Wal-Mart Care Clinic, an in-store health care clinic that will be staffed by licensed nurse practitioners.

The store is also a prototype “smart” store, in that it will be introducing different approaches to technology, services and even layout. One such approach is Mobile Scan and Go, which lets customers scan items with their mobile devices while shopping, and lets them pay instantly, rather than having to wait in a checkout line. Another feature will be free car side delivery for items that are ordered online.
