STAG Breaks Ground on Four Rooftop Solar Systems in Massachusetts

Real estate investment trust STAG Industrial has announced the groundbreaking of four new rooftop solar systems in Massachusetts. The projects are expected to provide energy to the local electrical grid.

The systems are expected to generate a total of more than 10 million kWh of electricity per year, the equivalent to powering approximately 1,000 homes with solar power. Black Bear Energy facilitated the project in partnership with STAG. All of the solar sites are slated to be online by the fourth quarter of 2020 or earlier.

“We are headquartered in Boston and have been excited about hosting solar in our home state since the announcement of the Massachusetts SMART Program years ago. The SMART program enabled us to leverage our square footage and to provide resources for the local community, helping us to demonstrate our commitments to sustainability with local concrete action,” said Brian LaMont, senior vice president of construction at STAG.
