‘Star Wars’ Land Stealthily, but Officially Breaks Ground

By: Dennis Kaiser

Disney officially broke ground on ‘Star Wars’ land, the largest-ever single-themed land expansions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. The company announced the construction milestone this week, by simply posting a 360-degree view of the site where work is underway on its Disney Parks blog.

Spanning 14 acres, Star Wars land is being built just north of Frontierland, and will occupy some backstage areas of the Anaheim, CA theme park. A similar themed land is also being constructed at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

A few attractions have been temporarily closed so that construction can take place. The adjacent Rivers of America has been drained to accommodate the new Star Wars land, and the Disneyland Railroad has a new route.
