Chicago-based Sterling Bay is expanding to Los Angeles and is tapping Rodney Richerson and Clint Copulos to run the new Sterling Bay West office. Richerson and Copulos, who most recently held positions at KBS, will serve as Managing Principal and Principal, respectively.
This is the company’s first office outside of Chicago, though Sterling Bay’s commercial development activities have encompassed such markets as Miami, Dallas and Portland, OR. The firm led the transformation of a former Chicago meatpacking district into a world-class tech hub now home to Google’s Midwest HQ and McDonald’s Global HQ.
Richerson and Copulos will focus on expanding the firm’s portfolio to such markets as Southern California, Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle. That includes value-add office, multifamily and life science conversion development opportunities.
The pair bring 35 years of combined experience including most recently overseeing several prominent KBS investments in Denver, Seattle and Portland. One such project was Sterling Bay’s and KBS’ Meier & Frank mixed-use development in downtown Portland (pictured).
