Student Housing: A Strong Prelease Season, So Far

Student housing space is continuing to attract developers and investors, especially in Texas, according to metrics from RealPage’s Axiometrics. But the holder of the title of “most purpose-built, student housing beds scheduled for delivery in 2016” doesn’t go to University of Texas-Austin, as might be expected. Rather, Texas State University, about 20 minutes south of Austin, in San Marcos, TX, leads the way with nearly 650 beds scheduled for delivery, according to Axiometrics. For comparison, UT’s total purpose-built student-housing scheduled delivery count is 160.
