Architecture firm Studio HBA, which is an arm of Hirsch Bedner Associates, recently remodeled a Courtyard San Francisco Union Square hotel at the tune of $38 million. While retaining some details from the historical site, the firm managed to create a modern, trendy, and upscale vibe for the hotel.
The new facility has 166 rooms over 17 stories. Part of the renovation included 16 new rooms as well as enhancements to public spaces including the bistro, lounge and library.
David Dunphy, principal at Studio HBA, said that the goal of the project was to make it feel like a luxury boutique hotel, while still providing the value and amenities of a Courtyard Marriott.
