Super Bowl LI, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium in Houston. And as the event becomes closer, the demand for rental housing during the period is becoming stronger. The market has seen an influx of new listings going for as high as $30,000 a night.
Though the $30,000 is for a mansion in the Memorial submarket, other home rental sites, such as HomeAway, have been experiencing a boost in Super Bowl-related requests. Houston homeowners are charging a more reasonable $1,715 to $2,000 per night on HomeAway. Still, an average regular rate for a Houston HomeAway listing is approximately $220 a night, according to company spokesman Adam Annen.
“With most of the hotels sold out, a lot of people are renting out their primary homes to take advantage of the influx of people coming in for the Super Bowl,” Annen told the Houston Business Journal.
