As part of Irvine, CA-based Taco Bell’s expansion plans to open 2,000 new restaurants by 2022, the fast-food chain is unveiling and testing four new designs. Four next-generation restaurants are expected to open in the Southern California cities of Brea, Tustin, Santa Ana, and Newport Beach later this summer.
The company says one size no longer fits all, and restaurants will adopt the design that best fits the community it serves. Each experimental store design has a name to match its aesthetics: Modern Explorer, California Sol, Heritage and Urban Edge.
The design features of California Sol include indoor and outdoor areas, beach-inspired artwork, exposed beams and midcentury modern seating. A more Mexican-inspired feel can be found at Heritage locations, with large tile floors, rustic tabletops and large hacienda-style chandeliers.
