Target Debuts New Concept in Irvine

Target plans to open a new small-format store this summer in Irvine, CA. The 20,000-square-foot location at 4255 Campus Dr. is near the UC Irvine campus, and will be its first flexible-format store in Orange County.

The former 24 Hour Fitness location is near a college campus, which is a key part of the retailers’ growth strategy, as it shifts to new concepts and enters urban, infill markets.

The mix of merchandise will be tailored to students, and feature fresh groceries, with grab-and-go items, health, personal care and beauty products, a curated assortment of dorm and apartment essentials, select sports team apparel and electronics. It will also offer mobile ordering and pick up.

Two small-format stores are also set to open in Orange in October 2017, as part of a $7-billion plan to energize sales… a 41,700-square-foot location at 2512 E. Chapman Ave., and a store at 2191 N. Tustin St.
