Trammell Crow Company (TCC) announced plans for Fulton Labs, a 400,000-square-foot life sciences laboratory and office building it wants to build in the Fulton Market District, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. CBRE has been tapped to market the project for lease.
“We’re trying to strengthen the supply side of what is a really strong life sciences cluster here in Chicago,” TCC’s Grady Hamilton told Crain’s. Hamilton sees the potential for Fulton Labs to draw from ventures spun out of university research groups, along with large pharmaceutical companies headquartered locally.
The idea for the project came from “the confluence of seeing some of these (companies) that might have been considering office and lab space and learned the space wasn’t adequate for their needs, so they were leaving our market,” Hamilton told Crain’s. “We thought this would be a great place to do it and a great product to deliver.”
