The Kern County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the development of Grapevine at Tejon Ranch, a new master-planned community in southern Kern County. The project is planned for 5.1 million square feet of commercial space and 12,000 residential units.
The community will be developed along both sides of I-5 on 8,010-acres of the 270,000-acre Tejon Ranch property, near the base of the foothills in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
Residential, commercial and civic uses account for 4,200 acres. Grouped into six different mixed-use villages, Grapevine will be developed over an expected 20-year time period. The plan also includes 3,800 acres of open space, and will connect to 240,000-acres of open space and recreation on Tejon Ranch.
Tejon Ranch Co.’s Gregory S. Bielli says, “By securing approval of these entitlements for Grapevine, Tejon Ranch Co. is taking an important step forward in unlocking the asset value of Tejon Ranch.”
