Tele-Med, Tech-Enabled Rural Hospital Completed

Save the date for Connect Healthcare on November 8 – a national event at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa. More details coming soon.

A new $90-million Adventist Health Medical Center Tehachapi Valley Hospital is now complete in Tehachapi, CA. A joint-venture between Bernards and Colombo Construction finished up work on the only hospital in a 50-mile radius of the rural communities of Tehachapi and Mojave.

Bernards’ Mike Funderberg says he believes “the facility represents an excellent model for rural hospitals. It offers the full range of services provided by a large hospital, but on a scale more appropriate to the community it serves.”

A state-of-the-art IT and telecommunication system incorporated throughout the hospital complex, allows for specialty higher acuity diagnoses and/or evaluations to be made remotely. The hospital includes medical/surgical and intensive care beds, an obstetrical unit, emergency services, anesthesia services, radiology/imaging, clinical laboratory, diabetic services space, pharmacy and nearly 16,000 square feet of offices

The acute care facility replaces an outdated hospital that no longer met California safety standards.
