Tempe Skating to Possible Hockey Arena

Arizona State University and the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes entered into an agreement to work on a new hockey arena and commercial project along Tempe Town Lake. The proposed 16,000-seat arena would go north on Karsten Golf Course at McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway.

The university and NHL team entered into an exclusive agreement with Catellus Development Corp. which is ASU’s facilities district developer. The plan is to build both arena and attached commercial project within the growing district along Tempe Town Lake.

The Coyotes have until June 30, 2017 to examine the property, and line up the necessary development, architectural, political and financial plans to move forward on the project.
