Tennis Arena Swapped Out for Lazy River

Westside Tennis and Fitness, a private club at 1200 Wilcrest Dr. in Houston, will soon embark on a four-acre, $8 million-$10 million renovation project. And, as part of the redevelopment, the club plans to swap out its current tennis stadium for a 1,200-foot lazy river.

The tennis stadium was built in the early 2000s, but the club stopped hosting tournaments in 2007. And, with more members preferring to use the pool during the summer, a lazy river seemed a fitting project, according to club CEO Linda McIngvale. Part of the project will include locker rooms, a concession stand and an area to pick up rafts and towels.
