Tesla opened a 400-square-foot gallery within Nordstrom’s men’s department at Caruso Affiliated’s The Grove in Los Angeles. The cross-branding retail experiment is scheduled to be open through the end of the year.
The expectation is that the first-ever gallery will drive increased Nordstrom store traffic, a key issue for the high-end retailer, which blamed recent quarterly sales declines on an ongoing drop in mall traffic. For Tesla, opening a small gallery is a cost-efficient way to expose numerous potential wealthy Nordstrom customers to the electric car maker’s products.
Caruso’s Head of Leasing Kloe Colacarro said, “This partnership is an example of innovative thinking between great brands, The Grove, Nordstrom, and Tesla, that are all continuously experimenting with new ways to provide exceptional customer experiences. Tesla’s presence within Nordstrom at The Grove allows our guests the chance to interact with an exceptional product, while at the same time offering Tesla the ability to capitalize upon their target consumer who is shopping at The Grove. ”
