Tesla is planning to open a 50,500-square-foot service center at Terreno Realty Corp.’s building at 2200 Sixth Ave. S. in South Seattle. It is in an area near the stadiums and solidifies the auto row that is emerging with other brands such as BMW, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
The industrial distribution building sits on roughly 1.7 acres two miles from downtown Seattle adjacent to Seattle’s Port and SoDo district. The exterior of the former Total Reclaim Building, a recycling company, will be updated along with interior improvements. Tesla also plans to install electric car-charging stations.
San Francisco-based Terreno Realty acquired the property for $12.6 million in 2018.
Tesla’s footprint in the Seattle area encompasses six showrooms, including locations in Seattle, Bellevue, Renton and Lynnwood.
