The Texarkana Regional Airport currently operates out of a terminal that was built close to 60 years ago. Now, the city and airport are putting together plans to build a new passenger terminal to replace the existing one, at an approximate $29.4 million cost. Other potential airport projects include more T-hangers for private-plane owners, as well as additional corporate hangers for business aircraft.
The majority of the new terminal’s cost will be paid through a combination of state and federal grants. However, airport officials will need to find an additional $1.7 million in funding from local improvement projects, as the cost of the new terminal was revised. Texarkana city officials agreed to contribute $1.2 million to the effort.
