The state of Texas added 30,900 private sector jobs last month, a 30% increase over April, according to the ADP Regional Employment Report. So far this year, Texas’ private sector employment has expanded by 140,300 jobs.
According to ADP, the U.S. added 253,000 private sector jobs in May. Texas accounted for roughly 12.2% of the private sector job expansion. The Lone Star State was secondly only to California, which accounted for 13.6% last month. California added 34,500 private sector jobs last month.
The ADP Regional Employment Report, produced in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics Inc., measures the change in regional and state nonfarm private employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
The company’s employment report is comprised of ADP payroll transactional data and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics employment data. ADP’s data is derived from 406,000 U.S. companies employing 23 million people, more than 20% of all U.S. private sector employees.
