Texas Cities Top Digital Cities Survey 2019

El Paso and Dallas made the top-10 list of the Center for Digital Government’s annual Digital Cities Survey 2019 among cities with a population of 500,000 and above. The survey measured leadership alignment, efficiency, data governance, security, resiliency, staff and support, connectivity, innovation and best practices.

El Paso, which ranked eighth on the list, impressing researchers with factors including “the implementation of physical and virtual private networks, operating system upgrades, backup policies, and mandatory cybersecurity training for all government employees,” in addition to boosting citizen engagement through technology.

Dallas, in 10th place, was praised for increasing objectives “for how it deployed IT projects,” ranging from public safety to government performance and financial management,” the researchers noted.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technologies and best practices in state and local government.
