Texas has notched another top-10-list ranking, this time coming in second on Aerospace Manufacturing Attractiveness Rankings pulled together by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The 2018 index is based on a weighted score of category and subcategory rankings, which include everything from labor, to infrastructure, to geopolitical risk and taxes. Texas, which jumped to No. 2 from No. 8 in 2017, was beaten out by Washington State.
The analysts liked Texas’ economy, favorable tax policies and the fact that 17 of the 20 largest aerospace manufacturers in the world have operations in the Lone Star State. Lockheed Martin, Airbus, Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Textron and Gulfstream helped ensure that about 9% of all aerospace manufacturing jobs can be found in Texas.
