The Texas economy added 32,000 seasonally adjusted, nonfarm jobs in March 2018, marking 21 consecutive months of employment growth. Year over year, Texas jobs increased by 294,100, leading to a 2.4% annual growth rate, according to information from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Leading the way was the Trade, Transportation and Utilities sector, which reported a gain of 7,500 positions from February 2018. Professional and Business Services jobs grew by 6,200, while Construction employment increased by 3,800.
The Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) recorded the month’s lowest unemployment rate in Texas at 2.4 percent, followed by the Amarillo and College Station-Bryan MSAs with a rate of 3.0 percent, each.
