Texas Takes Four of the Top 10 Spots in Census Study

Population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau revealed that Texas counties took four of the top 10 spots in the area of numeric growth. Harris County, which encompasses the Houston metro, took the third spot, growing in population by 34,460 between July 2017-July 2018; followed by Collin County in North Texas, which increased by 33,753 during the same time period. The remaining two counties in the top 10 were Tarrant County (Fort Worth is the county seat), which saw an increase of 27,436 people, and San Antonio’s Bexar County, which increased by 27,208 people.

The Census Bureau researchers indicated that domestic and international migration, combined with an increase of births, contributed to population growth. The Census Bureau also indicated that counties with the largest numeric growth are located in the southern and western part of the United States.
