Three Fire Stations will Relocate in Texarkana

Population shifts prompted the city of Texarkana, TX to relocate three of its fire stations. The three targeted for relocation are Station One at 524 W. Third St.; Station Three at 5706 Richmond Rd.; and Station Four at 4315 Summerhill Rd.

“The Texas side’s geography and population has shifted considerably from when these stations were originally built,” said city manager John Whitson at a recent Texarkana Chamber of Commerce meeting. He said that the building on Richmond Road would be used by the city’s public works department, with staff relocated northwest. Meanwhile, the West Third Street site will be turned over to downtown agencies, with fire operations moving to New Boston Road, and the Summerhill station will be relocated across Interstate 30.
