The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners and Taconic Partners have signed a 28,000-square-foot lease with Trader Joe’s on the lower level of the forthcoming Urban League Empowerment Center in Harlem. It will be the grocery chain’s first Northern Manhattan store and its 13th in New York City.
Trader Joe’s will join Target as an anchor tenant at the 17-story building, adding significant retail activity to the 125th Street commercial corridor. In August, the development team said Target would occupy 44,000 square feet at the ground-up project.
Announced in August, the 17-story Urban League Empowerment Center will be a new hub for living, working and culture for the Harlem community. Along with the National Urban League’s headquarters, its centerpiece will be the state’s first civil rights museum. At the same time, it will include at least 170 units of supportive and affordable housing.
