UBS Financial Services Inc. plans to open a new 11,000-square-foot branch office in downtown Detroit’s historic Woodward shopping district. The global wealth firm will take space in Bedrock’s recently-renovated S.S. Kresge Co. building at 1201/1217 Woodward, which spans two historic buildings located on the corner of Woodward Avenue and State Street.
Bedrock’s Dan Gilbert says, “Today, with their new office in the heart of activity in the historic Woodward shopping district, UBS will play a significant role in the future of Detroit.”
This new office represents an expansion of UBS’s investment in the metro-Detroit region, and establishes a presence in the city for the first time.
The design of the third-floor space honors the building’s history as a retail hub, using an industrial aesthetic with clean lines, natural wood with metal accents, and original exposed pillars. The office will have six meeting rooms, a flexible breakout area and a coffee bar.
