Universal Orlando plans to add a new 750-acre theme park to its resort in Orlando. The park will be called Universal’s Epic Universe, and will join Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure as the third theme park at Universal Orlando. It will also be the first brand new theme park in Orlando in more than 20 years.
The 750-acre size nearly doubles the size of Universal’s existing resort property in Orlando. In addition to the park, the site will also include a hotel, entertainment center, restaurants and shops. Of note, the park’s hotel will be located on the resort property, which sets it apart from Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World that only have hotels within walking distance, and none directly connected.
Universal has not announced an opening date or the characters or intellectual property that will be represented at the new park. The company is currently building the first Super Nintendo World at Universal Studio Japan in Osaka, so a U.S. location is possible. Other rumored inclusions are the How to Train Your Dragon and Universal Classic Monsters franchises.
