The University of New Mexico’s Clark Hall chemistry facility will be undergoing a renovation to the tune of $16 million. The school will add more than 38,000 square feet of the building’s north portion, to include classrooms, a lecture hall, research laboratories and offices.
The design is expected to be completed by May 2020, with construction launch planned for the following month. Renovations on the building at 300 Terrace St. S.E. are expected to be completed by summer 2021.
UNM’s Steve Cabaniss said the renovation will allow the chemistry facility to be in the same location. He also told the Albuquerque Business First that some of the building’s infrastructure dates back to the 1950s, and there have been issues with the building’s heating system and ventilation and poor internet connectivity.
