Virgin Mobile USA announced it has selected Kansas City, MO, for its new headquarters. The cell phone carrier will be re-launching its brand under Sprint, and plans to hire 50 employees by year-end, and 84 within the next five years. Sprint is headquartered in Overland Park, KS.
State officials say Virgin Mobile will identify space in the metro’s CBD as soon as possible. Occupancy is slated for the end of 2016. The company examined several sites before deciding on KC.
“Kansas City has an emphasis on entrepreneurship and technology, especially in the downtown and Crossroads area, which fits exactly with the direction for the new Virgin Mobile,” said Dow Draper, Virgin Mobile USA CEO.
