Tishman Speyer signed a 20-year lease agreement with the Whittle School & Studios, which will open its third global location at The Wheeler in Downtown Brooklyn. The school will lease all 620,000 square feet of The Wheeler, Tishman Speyer’s newly completed 10-story tower at 181 Livingston St., which is situated atop Macy’s renovated downtown Brooklyn department store.
The school expects to open its Whittle Studios concept and early learning program later this year, followed by its full K-12 offering starting in September 2021. Gary Rosenberg, Mark Aloia and Arielle Frost of Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. represented Whittle School in this transaction.
The Wheeler is the result of a development partnership between Macy’s and Tishman Speyer that began in 2015. The developer is working along similar lines at the historic Morgan North building in West Chelsea.
