Whole Foods Market has signed a lease for 60,000 square feet at 63 Madison Ave., a/k/a 28 E. 28th St., in NoMad. The Amazon-owned natural grocer will occupy 10,000 square feet on the ground floor and 50,000 square feet across the entire second floor.
The property’s owners—George Comfort & Sons, Jamestown and Loeb Partners Realty—are undertaking a major renovation of 63 Madison, to include expanding the first and second floors to create a retail glass box.
“An innovative brand like Whole Foods Market is an ideal fit for the cutting-edge retail environment we are creating at 63 Madison,” said George Comfort CEO Peter S. Duncan. “Whole Foods will benefit from strong foot traffic and visibility, while our tenants, along with those who live and work nearby, will enjoy having such a high-quality retailer join the neighborhood.”
Duncan and George Comfort’s Matt Coudert and Alex Bermingham represented ownership in-house.
