As EVP of operations at Chicago-based Waterton, overseeing value-add renovation plans as well as day-to-day operations at 51 properties nationwide, Lela Cirjakovic has proven to be a valuable leader with a forward-thinking approach to everything from resident service to community curation and design. The dramatic transformation at a number of Waterton’s recently completed renovations is evidence of Cirjakovic’s attention to detail and commitment to maximizing the resident experience.
Above all, Cirjakovic’s commitment to providing service to residents across the demographic spectrum—from young professionals and families to empty nesters and retirees—sets her apart from others in her position. It’s a specific combination of inspiration and know-how that puts her in a league of her own in terms of leading a team of more than 450 property management professionals.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Cirjakovic as one of the 2019 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
In nearly 13 years at Waterton, Cirjakovic has attracted and retained some of the most talented individuals in the property management sector. On a daily basis, she fosters a collaborative workplace environment at Waterton. Cirjakovic’s desire to foster growth among her colleagues is central to her success in commercial real estate. She finds this to be “the best part of her job.”
